Gothic Ray of Sunshine is a serious comedy show about queerness and growing up, created by Dougie K Powell. Plans for hosting the show at Loukko started pre-COVID and have been postponed more times than we can remember. Aatu Raitala and Jamie MacDonald take over Espan lava with Kaisa Pylkkänen and Dougie K Powell.

Aatu Raitala and Jamie MacDonald have hosted Cafe Mascot’s legendary English language stand-up club for nearly a decade, and now they’re taking over Espan lava with a bunch of friends.

Aatu is also the host of Takakeno stand-up club, appears very relaxed and witty on Finnish TV, and is everyone’s dad with a Lappeenranta accent. Jamie’s a Canadian import who co-hosts theatre’s current obsession Punch Up! -Resistance and Glitter, and takes queerness wherever he goes.

Every show has a fresh lineup, with some of Helsinki’s best comics headlining. Most shows are in English with a few in Finnish.
