Writing From Experience – 2025

Writing From Experience is back for Pride 2025!
Helsinki Central Library Oodi, 3rd Floor, Saarikoski-carpet
24th June 2025, 16:00.

WFE is a discussion panel featuring published authors who belong to gender minorities – meaning authors who are transgender, non-binary, intersex or gender non-conforming. Our authors will discuss their work and what they consider to be important when writing gender diverse characters. Our participating writers will answer questions and be around afterwards so you can purchase signed copies of their books or ask questions directly. You can also ask for advice on getting published, or just getting started as a writer!

This year’s panel will feature: Mira Eskelinen (she/her), author of the autobiography “Aavistus”, cartoonist Nina Mutik (they/them), Sophie Labelle (she/her), best known for her webcomic “Assigned Male,” and author of the young adult novel “My Best Rival,” Dougie K Powell (they/he.)

Books have the power to make us feel less alone and part of something. This is more important than ever – especially for gender diversity.

The discussion will be in Finnish and English. Questions can be asked in either language.
